We just had the best brunch in a city with no shortage of great restaurants for Sunday brunch. The ambiance was relaxed with cute art and furnishings. The owner and her husband were attentive and funny. You can tell they take pride in their business. The food was delicious: I had a waffle with melted Brie and a blueberry compote that was to die for. My mother loved her shrimp étouffée and biscuit and my husband loved his omelette. Even the butter, whipped with pecans and Steen's cane syrup was delicious. We are looking forward to returning next weekend!
For starters, Yvonne and Gary, the owners, are some of the nicest people you ever want to meet. Their staff are amazing and super friendly as well. We're from Las Vegas and know great food. Our granddaughter found them on this site and based on the reviews suggested we go there. There were six of us and everyone left happy. The food was absolutely delicious. Biscuits and Buns on Banks was one of our best meals on our trip. This place rocks and the art is very cool!
Best breakfast/brunch that we have have hands down in as long as we can remember. The grits were perfect! Perfect as in the first time we never had to add salt, butter or anything. I had the pot roast and debris over biscuit. OMG! The pot roast melted in my mouth. added 2 eggs which I thought was a great addition. My girlfriend had the French toast with grilled bananas and she could not stop raving about it. We were brought complimentary mini biscuits with housemade Steens & pecan butter. I could eat the butter by itself. I highly recommend Biscuits & Buns On Banks.
★★★★★ Some of the best fried chicken and waffles I have ever had. The potatoes and grits were out of this world. The coffee was spectacular, too. There is nothing worse than a great breakfast with mediocre coffee. That was not the case at BBB. The service was phenomenal. We came in on a busy Sunday morning with about an hour to spare before we had to catch our plane back to Chicago. They sat us immediately and got us our amazing food in no time. We were in and out with time to spare. The only thing we were unhappy about is that we didn't have enough time to enjoy more food. I'm definitely going back. I recommend BBB to anyone who is local or out of towners. It's a must go to spot.
The food here is amazing!!! My husband got the chicken and waffles and I got the blueberry and Brie waffles. Both items were delicious! The breading on the chicken tender that comes with the waffle was light and airy. It had a wonderfully perfect crunch. My blueberry and Brie waffles were heavenly! The Brie added a lovely creamy texture to very fluffy and delicious waffles. The wait staff here is also just as nice. Our waitress along with the owners Gary and His wife worked together to leave a wonderful and home-like impression for their guests. We will definitely be back to try the rest of their menu items!

Banks Street in Mid-City has become something of a breakfast hot spot offering several new options for hungry early risers. Among them is the alliterative Biscuits & Buns on Banks, which opened last fall. Biscuits & Buns specializes in refined breakfasts and lunches a step beyond pancake house or diner fare — while keeping the prices and atmosphere friendly. Biscuits & Buns offers a warm, cozy and intimate decor perfect for breakfast — breakfast doesn't call for sleek modern styling and designer furniture. Upon entering, you'll find a long counter with a pair of small but comfortable dining areas in the rooms behind it, with walls decorated with hand-painted folk art murals. It feels like eating at a friend's house, which was surely the intention here, and the restaurant hits it spot-on.
I applaud the new breakfast offerings on Banks Street, and Biscuits & Buns stands out from the pack with its unique take on brunch... the chicken and waffles will have me headed back to Mid-City.
Thick slices of watermelon, crisp and especially sweet where they touched the grill, sandwich a combination of creamy, oozing cheese, the peppery pop of fresh arugula and the syrupy tang of balsamic vinegar. By the time you start eating the second half, these flavors have penetrated the watermelon slices themselves. Served at breakfast and lunch, it’s light, satisfying, offbeat and tailor-made for a quick meal on a hot day.
